Bophuthatswana Nurse Leader was created by Joan
Prior to 1994, South Africa was a divided country in more than one way: the existence of the so called "homelands" necessitated the establishment of formal structures that had the task of managing affairs in that specific "homeland" . One such 'homeland" was Bophuthatswana.

In my search of old nursing magazines, I found this obituary (note attachment), written by professor Charlotte Searle, referring to the life and work of Me Alina Molebogeng Nancy Lekgetha:
  • Deputy Minister of Health, Bophuthatswana
  • Co-founder of the Bophuthatswana Nursing Council and the Nursing Association
  • Main drive behind the establishment of the Department of Nursing at the (then) University of Bophuthatswana
